Circulr Sound is a technological start-up that was born with the mission of creating a new way of reproducing audio that allows micromobility users to enjoy immersive sound safely, avoiding the multiple accidents that occur every day in cities around the world, without giving up regular use of headphones with the same device.
To achieve the goal of Circulr, we devised a hybrid solution that works as a headphone and as a neckphone at the same time, specially designed for use in micromobility. The device, in addition to complying with the most current acoustic quality standards, should not break aesthetically with the mental ideal that the user has of a headphone, unlike the existing neckphones on the market. The biggest challenge of the project will be to fit all the components while maintaining the ideal volume for this type of product.
Circulr Sound introduces its first patented open sound technology for micromobility users
This project involves several of our teams, who start working on the design of the brand while, in parallel, the conceptual design of the physical product is proposed.
When the design reached engineering, we initially considered the implementation of a dual driver, but as a result of component optimization and technological research we managed to create a single custom driver that offers the full spectrum of acoustic waves to ensure optimal performance for both headphone and neckphone, while maintaining high acoustic quality standards certified by Sound Hub Denmark engineers.
The project also includes the design of the digital product. To control the device, we designed a seamless digital experience with a simple look and feel that does not compromise on functionality. Through its app, users can listen to their favorite music in different sound modes and optimize them with Artificial Intelligence.
With this project, Circulr Sound presents its first patented open sound technology, which allows the micromobility user to safely and legally enjoy music, calls, podcasts and audiobooks with non-invasive sound in their environment while wearing the device as a neckphone around their neck. When the user arrives at their destination, they can switch to regular headphone use, with high quality sound and noise cancellation.
The device features a minimalist and sober aesthetic; optimized usability through configurable buttons; interchangeable earpads; splashproof sealing; integration of virtual assistants such as Alexa or Google, and a 2-way security system with internal sensor to avoid exposing the ears to too high a volume. The natural rotation of the headphones when placed in neckphone mode enables a confirmation button that allows the user to activate that mode. This same internal rotation sensor is the one that deactivates the increased sound necessary in a neckphone to return directly to headphone mode.
