Phygital ecosystem design agency, experiences where the physical and digital fuse

We design ecosystems where physical and digital channels form a single, coherent, memorable experience for your brand and your users.

What is a phygital ecosystem and why does it matter?

The phygital concept describes experiences where the physical and digital worlds integrate seamlessly, creating something neither can offer alone. It's not about adding screens to a space or creating an app to accompany a product: it's about designing the complete journey as a single coherent experience.

Today's consumers and users don't distinguish between physical and digital channels: they expect their experience to be continuous regardless of whether they're in a store, using an app, interacting with a kiosk or receiving a notification on their device. Brands that design these experiences in an integrated way generate more engagement, more conversion and more loyalty.

At Lucid_ we design complete phygital ecosystems: from the experience strategy through to the design of every touchpoint, both physical and digital.

Our phygital design services

Cross-channel experience continuity

The greatest challenge in phygital design is ensuring continuity: the user who starts their journey online can continue it in the store, and the in-store experience has its reflection in the app. We design the experience systems that make this continuity possible, defining how data, content and user context flow between channels.

UX for IoT devices, wearables and connected screens

We design interfaces for physical products with a digital component: industrial and consumer IoT devices, wearables, embedded screens in equipment, self-service kiosks and touch interfaces. Each of these contexts has its own interaction, legibility and usability constraints that require a specialised design approach.
Our experience in both industrial and digital design lets us understand the complete product, not just the screen , and design interfaces that fit the physical context in which they will be used.
We design the complete experience of a physical space that integrates digital elements: flagship stores with interactive digital layers, connected showrooms, brand corners with touch interfaces or points of sale that continue the experience in the app. We work from the journey map down to the detail of each interface and each touchpoint.
We have designed phygital ecosystems for brands including Taurus, Sensocar, Isdin, Aszende and Telefónica, from interfaces embedded in industrial equipment to apps connecting with consumer physical products.

Our methodology: end-to-end journey design

Phygital design requires thinking in systems, not screens. Our process always starts by mapping the complete user journey, online and offline, to identify the connection moments between channels and the points where physical-digital integration generates the most value. From this map we design the individual touchpoints and the system that connects them.

Frequently asked questions about phygital ecosystem design

What makes a phygital project different from a standard UX/UI project?

In a standard UX/UI project, the focus is on the digital interface (app, web, platform). In a phygital project, we also design the physical touchpoints and the system that connects both worlds. This means considering space, user movement, physical devices and the continuity of the experience between channels.

Do you work with the client's technology team or bring your own tech partners?

Both. If the client has a technology team, we integrate with them from the design phase to ensure decisions are implementable. If they need technology partners, we can connect them with the right specialists.
At Lucid_ we integrate digital and industrial design under the same roof, which is a significant advantage in phygital projects. We can design both the digital interface and the physical enclosure of the device, or work only on the digital part if the client already has the physical product defined.
